Obama and the gun control
Today the President of the United States proposes his plan to tighten gun-control laws. Barack Obama made this step after the recent massacres like the killing of 20 first graders in Newtown, and 12 moviegoers in Aurora. This is an inevitable step not just if you look the recent years, but if you look back in the history of U.S. or if you just take a glance at any statistics about the deaths by gun.
We are sorry to say this, but this is a must have action. It is not normal, for an average person to hold a weapon. Everyone, who holds a weapon and is not trained to evaluate the necessity of gun use is an enormous risk to their environment and to themselves. The only question is “Why not sooner?” It is not understandable why we had to wait until now with this important decision about our own safety. But finally Mr. President presented some kind of solution, which is – we hope leastwise – just the first step on a long path which ends at a gun-free nation.
A few days ago a picture were posted about Barack Obama skeet shooting, of course he opened a wide area for attacks, and the opposition made his best, but this very little compared to the reality. No one speaks about forbidding weapon use for sport or hunting purposes, we are speaking about forbidding dangerous persons to gain a weapon. This is for ourselves’ and for our children’s safety and a photo about a President skeet shooting, is not enough to overshadow our elementary right, the right to live. By the way, who is more credible to use a weapon against a skeet, then the President of the United States?
The fate of the gun proposals on Capitol Hill uncertain, but Mr. President is seeking support from the public and the law enforcement community, and these are the best choices for this case. Besides this he already acquired the support of them just with case, so it is a certain win for the start of his second term. We hope Obama will continue this sensibly governing type, where he is not afraid to make the desperate decisions and has an incredible talent to recognize the most important questions.
